Volvo has created new names for its XC90 trim levels for 2023. Gone are the Momentum and Inscription trims. Instead, Volvo offers the 2023 XC90 in Core, Plus and Ultimate models. Four-cylinder turbo B5 and B6 mild-hybrid powertrains are now available and the brand is also offering three new metallic exterior colors: Platinum Grey, Bright Dusk and Silver Dawn. There's also a luxurious new Lounge package on Ultimate trims.

2023 Volvo XC90 Trim Levels

The 2023 Volvo lineup is comprised of six trims:

• Plus
• Ultimate
• Recharge Core
• Recharge Plus
• Recharge Ultimate

As an example of what's available, the Plus trim has an optional 295-horsepower B6 powertrain. Also with the XC90 Plus trim, you can get 20-inch wheels, leather upholstery, heated rear seats and a 360-degree camera.

2023 Volvo XC90 performance

The Core entry level model links up a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine and a 48-volt electric motor to generate 247 combined horsepower. If you go with the B6 powertrain that comes standard on the Ultimate trim and is optional on the Plus trim, horsepower rises to 295. There's a T8 plug-in hybrid XC90 Recharge that has a high level of fuel efficiency and is also the most powerful XC90 powertrain, giving you as much as 455 horsepower.
